A tidy first aid kit helps you deal quickly with small cuts, scrapes and minor burns before getting medical care if needed. A basic kit should hold sterile gauze, roller bandages, medical tape, plasters in several sizes, cotton, small scissors, tweezers and gloves. Pick a bag with labelled compartments so you find things fast, and a waterproof shell for the car or travel. Check expiry dates on gauze and antiseptic every six months. Keep the kit where adults can reach it and children cannot.
